In alignment with His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said’s direction, in response to the national call and in keeping with its commitment to social responsibility, the Board of Directors at Bank Nizwa, Oman’s leading and most trusted Islamic bank, have pledged to donate RO 250,000 to support families affected by Cyclone Shaheen in the various states and governorates of the Sultanate. This support is accompanied by the participation of Bank Nizwa volunteer team "Masoliyati" in distributing food supplies and aid to the affected families in the North Al Batinah Governorate.

Sheikh Khalid bin Abdullah bin Ali Al Khalili, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Nizwa, said: “Social responsibility is an integral part of our integrated operations in the Bank, as we recognize it as an important means of giving back to the community we operate in, which is in line with the government direction of involving the private sector in the economic and social development of the country. As a part of the society, the Board of Directors’ decision came to contribute and help the communities effected by cyclone Shaheen, and we stand with the people in these challenging times. This is an embodiment of the principles of our religion, which affirms that the society, with its individuals and institutions, is like one body.”

Shaheen was classified as a Category 1 cyclone that caused widespread flooding, amid strong winds and heavy rain, leaving behind a number of deaths and extensive damage to buildings and streets.

Sheikh Al-Khalili added, “On behalf of the Bank we express our condolences and sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones due to the natural calamity and we ask Almighty Allah to grant them patience and solace.”

This initiative comes as part of a series of charitable initiatives launched by the bank to serve the community, effectively contributing to alleviate the damage caused by the climatic conditions in the Wilayat of Saham and Al Khaboura.
