Receiving more than 300 entries from across the Sultanate, Bank Nizwa recently celebrated the conclusion of its ‘Bank Nizwa Quran Recitation Competition’. Organized by the bank on its Instagram account, the unique contest invited children under 13 years of age to record themselves reciting Quran for a chance to win a prize. The winners of the competition were each honored with visits from Bank Nizwa’s branch managers to the winner’s schools including Wilayat Manah, Wilayat Dhank, Wilayat Al Mudhaibi and Birkat al Mouz village, who presented them with their prizes.

Entries were evaluated by a judging panel appointed by the bank based on their recitation, pronunciation (tajweed), and articulation. The top 28 reciters were selected for the second round where they were tasked with reciting two specific verses of Quran chosen by the judging panel. Mohammed bin Hassan Fawaz won first place, while Al Moathar bin Ali Al Busaidi came in second. In third place was Fatima bint Saif Al Zakwani with Razeena bint Yaqoob Al Harthy coming in fourth.

Bank Nizwa’s ‘Quran Recitation Competition’ reflects its longstanding efforts to engage and support the social, economic and educational development of local communities in Oman. Alongside its progressive use of social media, the bank has continuously demonstrated to local communities across the country its diverse range of initiatives as part of its volunteering program Masoliyati.
